Hi friends,
My name is Olivia Newman and I am currently a Teacher Education student at UVic.
I spent the first 5 years of my life in the UK and then moved to the Kootenays, which is where I grew up! I did French Immersion from grades 6-12 and I am continuing my French education here at UVic with the goal to teach Early French Immersion. Ever since I was little I have wanted to teach, I have memories of making my younger siblings play classroom with me. Ideally, I would love to teach grades k-3, during the school year I work at a daycare and that is my favourite age to work with.
When I travel back to my hometown I love to ski since I am blessed to live 30 minutes away from an amazing ski hill. No matter where I am I adore being outdoors, camping in my van, hiking, and trying to surf when I am back on Vancouver Island. I am also a homebody and love to watch shows, cook, and hang out with my friends, I am a pet parent to my sassy little cat named Nala! I also used to read all of the time in school but now I find it harder to find time to read my personal books with all of the readings I have for my classes!
What is this website for?
This website will be a place for me to share my personal growth in my own learning. It is important to remind ourselves as teachers we are lifelong learners, and that is exciting to share with our students and their families! I will also use this website as a hub for resources I find/create so I can access them for my future classroom. I can see myself editing this website through the years to fit where I am in my teaching career and share it with my students and families.
